Gender-based violence (GBV)Background
The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was founded in October 2019 by Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence worldwide, addressing a long-standing gap identified by survivors. GSF provides interim reparative measures in situations where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities. It also advocates for dutybearers and the international community to develop reparations programmes, while guiding states and civil society by offering expertise and technical support in designing such initiatives. GSF’s survivor-centric approach is the cornerstone of its work.

The group’s primary focus is to identify viable financing pathways for reparations and produce survivor-informed recommendations that can guide Syrian and international policymaking. The consultant will serve as group facilitator. They will build consensus across diverse stakeholders and deliver concrete outputs in line with the working group’s mandate.
