About the Fiji Program Support Platform (FPSP)
The Fiji Program Support Platform (FPSP) brings together local knowledge, partnerships and practical support to help deliver Fiji’s development priorities. Funded by the Australian Government and guided by the Fiji–Australia Vuvale Partnership, the Platform supports vital national initiatives in health, education, governance, scholarships, infrastructure, and climate resilience.
At its heart, FPSP backs locally led development — recognising the expertise, leadership, and lived experience of Fijians and People of the Pacific as central to lasting progress.
What You Will Do
You will work within the Fiji Government Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection (MWCSP) and report directly to the offices of the Minister and the Permanent Secretary (PS).
You will be a trusted adviser and mentor — someone who brings deep knowledge, but listens first.
You will:
- Provide strategic policy advice to the Minister and PS
support the Minister and PS to scope and develop potential plans and approaches for the MWCSP and to drive and deliver outcomes
support the Minister and PS to follow up on their directives and to keep actions/activities on track in support of the broader MWCSP workplan - Strengthen coordination across Government to ensure GEDSI goals are met
- Support planning, budgeting and reporting on gender equality initiatives
- Track progress against Fiji’s international and regional gender commitments, such as CEDAW and the Pacific Leaders Gender Equality Declaration
- Mentor ministry staff, helping grow local skills and leadership
- Assist the Ministry to trial new ways of working that lead to better outcomes for Fijian communities
- Help follow up on key actions and ensure momentum is maintained
- Balance different perspectives and help move forward challenging conversations with care, professionalism, and respect for all voices.
Who We Are Looking For
This role is ideal for a Fijian or Pacific Islander professional who understands the local context and communities and can confidently navigate both traditional structures and modern policy environments.
You will bring:
- A master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in gender studies, social or political science, international development, or a related field
- At least 5 years’ experience providing strategic advice to government or senior leadership
- A strong understanding of the gender equality landscape in Fiji and the region
- Experience in public sector policy development, planning, and delivery
- Excellent relationship-building and cross-cultural communication skills
- Cultural intelligence, diplomacy, and trust-building capabilities
- A commitment to inclusive, locally-led development
- The right to work in Fiji and a willingness to be based in Suva
