Job Description
This is a remote position.

Gender Specialist
Location: Remote
Period of Performance: 6 months starting October 2023 (Part time; LOE Ceiling)

Position Description:
IDG is currently seeking a Gender Specialist to serve under a potential new activity under the USAID Technical Assistance and Economic Growth (TAP EG) project. The Gender Expert will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop a diagnostics tool to assess how USAID programing can contribute to the transition to the green economy.
Please note that this position is contingent upon approval from USAID.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring gender dimensions are considered across all dimensions when developing the new diagnostic tool. The methodology should have four distinct analytic components: the structure of the economy, labor supply, labor demand, and labor matching. Specifically, each component should provide a framework to conduct:
  • In-depth review of the recent growth in the country over the past 15-20 years by sector.
  • An overview of labor supply through a close examination of labor force and employment characteristics.
  • An overview of labor demand by analyzing the shift parameters for a standard labor demand curve, such as labor productivity, the price of non-labor inputs (including capital), and the price and demand for final goods
  • Review of structural unemployment and frictional unemployment to determine if labor matching is a major constraint to job creation in the sector(s) of interest.
  • Use the developed tool to collect data in one target country and support the analysis, presentation, and tool refinement related to gender considerations and green jobs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Gender Studies, Women's Studies, International Development, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Gender Specialist or similar role, preferably in projects or programs funded by USAID.
  • Strong understanding of gender issues, women's empowerment, and gender mainstreaming approaches.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in gender mainstreaming, research, analysis, and publication
