Background
Faith communities play a central role in the lives of billions of people globally and can significantly influence social norms, gender relations, responses to violence, and access to support and services. Yet faith actors remain insufficiently engaged in the
evidence-informed prevention and response of violence against women (VAW), violence against children (VAC), and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. Where engagement occurs, it is often fragmented and poorly connected to broader efforts.

Religious beliefs and practices can reinforce harmful gender norms, stigma and silence around violence. At the same time, faith leaders, communities and organisations are often among the first and most trusted sources of information and support, particularly
where formal services are limited or inaccessible. There is therefore growing recognition of the importance of engaging faith actors as partners in preventing violence, promoting gender equality and strengthening survivor-centred responses.
A growing number of organisations have developed programmes, training curricula, workshops, toolkits and other structured resources to support this work. These vary considerably in their audiences, geographical and religious contexts, approaches,
delivery models, duration and supporting evidence. However, there is currently no comprehensive resource enabling practitioners, researchers, faith actors and other stakeholders to identify what exists, where and how resources have been used, whom and what forms of violence they address, and what evidence or learning is available.

This consultancy will address this gap through a mapping of existing structured faith-based violence prevention and response interventions and practice resources.

Purpose of the consultancy
The overall purpose of this consultancy is to do a mapping of existing structured faith-based violence prevention and response interventions and practice resources

For the purposes of this mapping it is foreseen that “structured interventions and practice resources” will potentially refer to organised, replicable approaches, programmes, curricula, trainings, toolkits or intervention packages that provide defined guidance, content or activities. The mapping will not be restricted by the duration, format or intensity of the intervention.

Scope of the mapping
The mapping should focus on organised, replicable approaches, programmes, curricula, trainings, toolkits or intervention packages that provide defined guidance, content or activities for engaging faith actors, faith communities or other stakeholders in the prevention of and/or response to VAW and/or VAC and/or other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. The mapping will not be restricted by the duration, format or intensity of the intervention. The consultant should propose a clear working definition and inclusion/exclusion criteria in the inception report.

Consultant qualifications and experience
The consultant/consultancy team should demonstrate:
• advanced knowledge of gender-based violence prevention and/or response;
• experience conducting evidence reviews, evidence mapping, scoping reviews, landscape analyses or similar research;
• demonstrated understanding of faith and religion in relation to gender, GBV and/or social norms;
• experience identifying and analysing grey literature and practice-based evidence;
• strong research and analytical skills;
• experience working across diverse geographical and cultural contexts;
• demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information for practitioner and
policy audiences; and
• excellent written and spoken English.
