About IPPF
The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global healthcare provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all. We are a movement of 148 autonomous members with a presence in over 146 countries.

Our work is wide-ranging, including comprehensive sex education, provision of contraceptive, safe abortion, and maternal care and responding to humanitarian crises. We pride ourselves on being local through our members and global through our network. At the heart of our mission is the provision of – and advocacy in support of – integrated healthcare to anyone who needs it regardless of race, gender, sex, income, and crucially no matter how remote.

Background to this consultancy
In the Americas and Caribbean region, IPPF currently has 28 Member Associations and Collaborative Partners. To strengthen its impact, IPPF will expand and consolidate its presence in the region by engaging national organizations in key countries prioritized according to SRHR needs and their potential to contribute best practices. Due diligence on governance and membership standards will be undertaken for organizations entering or progressing through IPPF’s membership pathway, including existing Collaborative Partners, to assess their readiness for the appropriate membership status.

Purpose of this consultancy
IPPF is seeking a consultant who can conduct due diligence on governance and membership standards for our partner organization in Curacao.

Due diligence/affiliate readiness assessment
  • The Consultant will conduct a due diligence and affiliate readiness assessment with the IPPF partner organization in Curacao.
  • The assessment will review the organization against the criteria for IPPF membership outlined in Procedure 6 of the IPPF Membership Standards and Responsibilities (Appendix 1) and the Constitutional and Governance Checklist (Appendix 2)
  • The results will inform the partner organization’s readiness to progress to the next stage of the IPPF membership pathway.

Expected results of the consultancy
The consultant will lead the due diligence and affiliate readiness assessment and is expected to deliver:

  1. A summary report assessing the organization’s compliance with the criteria outlined in Procedure 6 of the IPPF Membership Standards and Responsibilities, supported by relevant evidence. The report should identify areas of compliance, gaps requiring further action and any additional issues relevant to IPPF that emerge during the assessment beyond those covered by the Constitutional and Governance Checklist.
  2. A matrix summarizing the findings against each standard in the Constitutional and Governance Checklist, including supporting evidence and any identified areas for improvement.
  3. A PowerPoint presentation summarizing the findings and recommendations, to be presented and discussed in a meeting with representatives of IPPF and the partner organization.
The findings should provide a clear assessment of the partner organization’s readiness to progress to the next stage of the IPPF membership pathway and identify any actions required to support that progression.
