Flone Initiative Trust is a women-led organization advancing safe, inclusive, and sustainable mobility systems in Kenya and across Africa. Through research, advocacy, policy engagement, and community organizing, Flone works to improve public transport safety, gender inclusion, road safety governance, and climate justice.

Position Summary
The Program Officer will support the implementation, coordination, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement activities for several projects at Flone Initiative.  The officer will take the lead in  “Transforming Helmet Safety in Kenya: From Regulation to Market Compliance,”  project aimed at strengthening motorcycle helmet safety regulation, compliance systems, and institutional coordination in Kenya.  The officer will lead this project  while offering  support in the implementation of other Flone projects. The officer will play a central role in supporting policy dialogues, technical consultations, stakeholder coordination, research activities, monitoring and evaluation processes, and engagement with government agencies, development partners, transport actors, and civil society organizations. The ideal candidate should have strong project coordination skills, experience in policy or governance-related programming, and demonstrated interest in road safety, transport governance, public policy, standards compliance, or sustainable mobility

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Political Science, Transport Planning, International Relations, Project Management, Public Health, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, governance, policy advocacy, road safety, public sector engagement, or development programming.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government agencies, civil society organizations, or donor-funded projects.
  • Strong understanding of policy processes, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in research, report writing, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of road safety, transport governance, standards compliance, or mobility issues is an added advantage.
  • Experience supporting workshops, consultations, and multi-stakeholder forums.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of accession processes to global  UN treaties
