Background to this consultancy

The IPPF, together with its member organizations in 28 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, works tirelessly for sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender equality. One of the main components of the secretariat's work is to strengthen regional efforts by searching new members in countries where we do not yet have a presence.

Purpose of this consultancy

The main purpose of this consultancy is to develop a short analytical report that will be a guidance for IPPF to look for a new member in Guatemala. This consultancy corresponds to a second stage of work in the country; the selected person will have access to the first mapping exercise as a basis to deepen and adapt the findings to the current context.

The expected outcome is that IPPF has an updated analysis of the situation of SRHR and gender equality, the needs of women and girls, a list of recommended organisations providing sexual and reproductive health services that IPPF should approach according to selected criteria and a list of a maximum of 10 key informants to be interviewed by IPPF after the end of the consultancy.

Person Specification:

  • Academic background in social sciences, gender health, clinical studies or related areas.
  • Significant experience on working on SRHR and/or gender equality in Guatemala
  • Excellent command of oral and written Spanish and English.
  • Work experience with grassroots and movements is highly desirable
  • Outstanding writing and synthesis skills
  • Self-awareness, embraces diversity of all sorts.
  • Supports bodily autonomy, including women’s right to choose an abortion is essential.
  • Consultancy experience including working by products and report writing experience is required.
