The Opportunity

The GEDSI Lead is responsible for ensuring that CARE’s programs are compliant with GEDSI policies and standards as set by CARE Australia (CA), the CARE Confederation and donors. This includes supporting the development, maintenance and application of systems, organisational policies and approaches and supporting CA and country offices in their application.
The position is responsible for the provision or facilitation of GEDSI technical support to country offices and partners, brokering key technical and strategic partnerships. The position also has a key role in fundraising for GEDSI programming.

What you’ll do
As Gender, Disability and Inclusion (GEDSI) Lead you will be responsible for:
- Working with key stakeholders across CARE Australia and Country Offices, ensure an understanding of and compliance to key CARE Australia, CARE International, DFAT and other donor GEDSI policies, and broader good practice standards.
- Maintaining compliance tracking systems and contribute to compliance reporting systems identifying and addressing any areas of concern.
- Providing Technical Leadership and Advisory Support to CARE Australia, Country Offices and partners. Technical assistance themes could include gender equality, disability equity, social inclusion and equity, gender-based violence, engaging men and boys to progress gender equality, social norms change, GEDSI-integrated MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning), gender in emergencies, as well as supporting capacity and technical advice around CARE’s key GEDSI approaches, frameworks, and tools.
- Leading or facilitating key project deliverables including GEDSI analyses and GEDSI strategies
- Providing support to and at times leading business development and fundraising opportunities
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Proven ability to deliver high quality GEDSI technical advice, capacity building and support to colleagues and partners.
- Skilled in leading and reviewing project designs that integrate good global practice in GEDSI.
- Background in international development and humanitarian response essential; Pacific experience desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in in diverse teams, with strong cross-cultural skills and experience with feminist and locally led approaches and sensitivity to power.
- Strong familiarity with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs as a project donor, including compliance reporting, and GEDSI policies.
