Contract type: Consultancy
Duration: August–October 2026
Budget: Up to €10,000
Deadline to apply: 8am CEST, Monday 17 August 2026

About the role
Each year, TGEU's Trans Murder Monitoring / Trans Day of Remembrance (TMM/TDoR) campaign honours trans lives lost to violence, highlights the structural nature of anti-trans violence, and supports advocacy for stronger protections for trans communities worldwide.
For the 2026 campaign, TGEU is seeking an experienced consultant to lead audience research and message testing, helping us understand how different audiences respond to campaign narratives — including remembrance, structural violence, accountability, solidarity and calls to action — and to identify the most effective ways to communicate them.
The consultant will act as a research partner, working closely with TGEU's Communications Manager and in collaboration with the Communications, Research and Policy teams. This is a research and insight role, not a campaign strategy or creative role.

Key responsibilities
- Review previous TMM/TDoR campaign materials, messaging and insights
- Design a qualitative research methodology, including focus groups and message testing
- Support development of messaging concepts for testing, in collaboration with TGEU
- Facilitate focus groups with selected audience groups
- Analyse findings and deliver evidence-based recommendations for the 2026 campaign

Deliverables
-
A research and message-testing plan
- Research materials (discussion guides, messaging concepts for testing)
- A report on focus group findings and audience insights
- Evidence-based recommendations on messaging, audience approaches and communications priorities

Person specification
- We're looking for a consultant with demonstrated experience in:
- Strategic communications research
- Audience insight and message testing
- Qualitative research methods and focus group facilitation

- October: Analysis, recommendations and final reporting

Final deliverables are due by 14 October 2026.
