Program Overview
WRI Indonesia is committed to mainstreaming Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) across its thematic portfolios and works with government, business, civil society, communities, and development partners to advance practical and equitable solutions for sustainable development.
What You Will Do
Research (50%)
- Conduct systematic review on direct and indirect policies and regulations that unpack gender and equity aspects of proposed clean air solutions, energy and transportation transition at national and subnational level.
- Design assessment tools/methods to evaluate the distribution of benefits, burdens, and opportunities among various social groups that will be affected by clean air solutions, energy and transportation transitions at subnational level.
- Conduct consultative study through GEDSI-sensitive and inclusive focus group discussion with key stakeholders to deep dive GEDSI aspects of just transition at subnational level particularly on energy and transportation
- Design and apply qualitative and quantitative assessment tools to analyze the distribution of benefits, burdens, and opportunities of climate, energy, and transport transitions across different social groups.
Project Management (20%)
- Develop a workplan and support the implementation of GEDSI-related activities by coordinating technical inputs, timelines, and deliverables with relevant project teams.
- Collaborate with the GEDSI Senior Specialist and project teams in support planning, implementation, and reporting of project activities.
- Support documentation, reporting, and knowledge management related to GEDSI activities and project outputs.
Stakeholder Engagement (20%)
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including community groups, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and industry representatives. Facilitate meetings, workshops, and consultations to gather input and ensure diverse perspectives are considered in decision-making processes.
- Work together with WRI Indonesia’s Communication teams and partners in delivering public outreach, education, and engagement activities.
Institutional (10%)
- Ensure GEDSI is systematically integrated into project design, implementation, and knowledge products
- Contribute to internal learning by supporting capacity-building and GEDSI mainstreaming efforts across programs and teams.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, public policy, environmental studies, anthropology, sociology, or other related fields. A combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 4 (four) years of relevant professional experience in GEDSI, social inclusion, social research, environmental justice, just transition, community development, or related areas.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement social research, including defining research questions, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data.
- Experience with participatory approaches such as observation, participatory mapping, and community-led inquiry.
- Knowledge of energy transition, sustainable development, climate change, or other relevant topics.
- Ability to review policies, programs, and research outputs through a GEDSI lens and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas and analysis to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong writing and analytical skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
