About Us
MenEngage Alliance is an international civil society network working to transform masculinities and engage men and boys to advance women’s rights and gender justice for all. The Alliance consists of more than 1000 member organizations across more than 92 countries, working together through country, regional, and global networks. Through its advocacy, networks-building, knowledge-building, and communications work, the Alliance plays a pivotal role in shaping the international agenda on work with men and boys from a feminist perspective.
Responsibilities
Working with and reporting to the Communications Manager to coordinate and implement:
Communications plans for the dissemination of reports, announcements, events, and other relevant activities - from planning through to follow-up communications and knowledge management;
The coordination of content at menengage.org, ensuring the timely upload of new material. This includes pages for: networks, approaches, work areas, events, member profiles and others;
The publication of our global newsletter every 2 weeks, in coordination with the Communications Intern if available, to our global mailing list of researchers, academics, policy makers, donors, governments, and practitioners;
Development and posting of social media content across channels, ensuring timely, relevant, and impactful content, responding to comments/engagement, as well as learning from social media insights;
Coordination of our Global Communications Working Group, including scheduling of meetings, sending reminders, and preparing minutes;
The mobilisation of members, networks, and partners for joint campaigns and activities. Working together with the Global Secretariat - and in particular the Communications Manager, the Communications Officer will be a key member of the team in the campaign cycle of planning, implementation, evaluation, and learning;
Digital storytelling, leveraging our extensive archive of knowledge as well as identifying and amplifying the innovative and powerful stories and expertise from across and beyond our network.
The Ideal Profile
A Movement-Oriented Communicator: You are rooted in activist or ‘artivist’ spaces and understand how to use media as a tool for social transformation.
A Cultural Analyst: You maintain a deep pulse on contemporary conversations around masculinities—ranging from pop culture and cinema to shifting digital trends and influencer discourse.
Politically Engaged: You bring a grassroots energy to your work. You are politically informed, bold in your commitment to gender justice, and driven by intersectional feminist principles.
Practitioner-Informed: You possess practical and/or lived experience connecting directly with men and boys. You understand the nuances, language, and methodologies required to engage authentically in the public ‘men and boys’ conversation.
Technical & Creative Specialist: You possess the technical proficiency to develop high-impact communications, including graphic design, sharp copywriting, and the production of engaging short-form video content.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years in communications within the non-profit or social justice sector, with a demonstrated track record of balancing creative output with administrative coordination
