About the Role
This role sits within Thorne Harbour Health’s Family Violence Program and provides specialist, trauma-informed therapeutic support to LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with or affected by HIV who are impacted by family violence.

Working within a specialist therapeutic framework, the position focuses on early intervention, risk assessment, case management and recovery support, while contributing to culturally safe and affirming responses for clients experiencing family violence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based, trauma and violence-informed family violence risk assessment, intervention and recovery support.
  • Conduct family violence, child safety and suicide risk assessments.
  • Provide case management and care planning for clients impacted by family violence.
  • Manage and respond to family violence referrals in collaboration with intake clinicians.
  • Contribute to service development, evaluation and best-practice responses for LGBTIQ+ family violence presentations.

About you


You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, counselling, or related health/community services discipline. You will also bring:
  • Strong knowledge of family violence frameworks, including Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and Child Information Sharing Scheme
  • Experience supporting people affected by family violence and interpersonal trauma
  • Strong assessment, case planning, documentation and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Commitment to working affirmatively with LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with or affected by HI
