Responsibilities

Gender, Youth and Social inclusion Assessment and Strategy
  • Lead the collection, analysis and utilization of information from a wide variety of sources to inform the program’s gender, youth and social inclusion approaches.
  • Ensure the use of participatory and collaborative problem-solving approaches to develop strategies and action plans for gender and youth integration and promotion of social inclusion for marginalized groups within the program plans, Theory of Change (ToC) processes, monitoring and learning plans and implementation guides.
  • Contribute to refined period formative research and data collection, and related program strategies to ensure gender and youth integration
  • Make recommendations to reach youth & women through both traditional and non-traditional channels.

Program Implementation
  • Provide gender and youth-related technical support on an ongoing basis to team leads and participate in team planning processes and the implementation, including embedding GYSI principles within extension services and field activities.
  • Provide technical support on the implementation of the Social Behavior Change Strategy (SBC) and SBC Communication, ensuring messages and delivery channels are tailored to effectively reach and influence women, youth and marginalized groups at community level.
  • Identify and document best practices of the program in implementing gender, youth and social inclusion components for organizational learning, specifically capturing successful approaches in farmer outreach, youth engagement, and community-level inclusion.
  • Build the capacity of the farmer-facing teams to apply gender responsive, youth-inclusive, and socially inclusive approaches in their direct engagement with farmers.
  • Participate in program design, which includes product and service offerings to ensure they are attractive to youth, are women-friendly and socially inclusive, and guide the development of extension materials and methodologies that are accessible and responsive to diverse needs.
  • Support the identification and promotion of inclusive communication channels and peer learning networks for effective outreach to all target groups.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

Technical skills: 
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google Docs, Sheets, Slides.
  • Fluency in Swahili  and English.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills. 

Education & knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, preferably Sociology, Social Development, Gender Studies, Marketing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan, guide, and implement work with demonstrated experience in mainstreaming GYSI.
