 BACKGROUND 
Established in 2015, TransWave Jamaica is the country’s first non-profit organization solely dedicated to focusing on promoting the health and well-being of the transgender, gender non-conforming and intersex communities. At TransWave, we take a holistic approach to advocacy, addressing not only the socio-political issues we face, but also the mental, emotional and physical health of our community through our various initiatives. 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1) Programmes Coordination and Implementation 
• Support the design, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of programmes aligned with TransWave Jamaica’s strategic priorities, including human rights, health (including HIV), social protection, climate justice, and community empowerment. 
• Assist with the development of work plans, activity schedules, and budgets for programme activities. 

 2) Policy and Advocacy Support 
• Support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies aimed at advancing the rights and inclusion of TGNC people in Jamaica. 
• Monitor, track, and analyze policy, legislative, and socio-political developments affecting TGNC communities, and contribute to internal briefs and advocacy responses. 

 3) Capacity Building and Community Engagement 
• Support the coordination and delivery of sensitization sessions, trainings, and capacity-building activities for service providers, institutions, and community members. 
• Assist in strengthening community leadership and participation in advocacy and programme processes. 
• Ensure a community-centred and trauma-informed approach in all programme and advocacy activities. 

4) Organisational Support 
• Participate in team meetings, strategic planning, and organisational learning processes. 
• Contribute to internal systems strengthening, including documentation, knowledge management, and programme tools. 
• Represent TransWave Jamaica at meetings, consultations, and public events as required. 
• Undertake any other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director. 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Human Rights, Public Health, Gender Studies, or a related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience in programme implementation, advocacy, policy support, or community-based work related to human rights, social justice, health, or development. 
• Experience working with civil society, community-based organisations, or marginalized communities is an asset. 
• Demonstrated experience in research, report writing, and the development of advocacy or programme-related materials
