Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
The duties and responsibilities are outlined as follows:
PGI institutional development and capacity building
- Provide advice and direction, and raise awareness and commitment to protection, gender and inclusion (PGI) issues within URCS and especially with leadership and management, as well as the branch management and staff.
- Responsible for establishing and driving a systematic and integrated approach to PGI within URCS by coordinating capacity building and development processes on PGI such as through: policy and strategy development, organisational assessments for PGI, training of staff, volunteers, support in establishing systems and mechanisms to ensure mainstreaming of PGI in plans, processes and procedures.
- Ensure the development and provision of continuous and systematic PGI capacity building efforts and trainings and monitor their effectiveness with all levels of URCS, in both the volunteering and the management lines, including contactors, stakeholders and other interested parties.
PGI in URCS Programs and Operations
- Work closely with URCS technical leads and their thematic areas to help them identify gaps in their approach to PGI and support them to scale up and integrate the embedment of PGI into their work with the affected people while ensuring their dignity, access, participation and safety within programmes and operations.
- Develop, establish capacities and technically lead on specialized PGI programs and activities based on a comprehensive assessment of needs, risks and gaps in prevention and response efforts especially with regards to SGBV, Child Protection, Trafficking, Disability Inclusion, Identity-based discrimination and violence (related to e.g. LGBTIQ+, race, ethnicity, age); in areas where action and services are lacking, in collaboration and support of local and national government institutions.
PGI Advocacy, partnerships and learning
- Report regularly on and document activities, lessons learnt and case studies, demonstrating practical application of PGI and systems, processes and guidance needed for PMER processes, quality assurance and Do No Harm principles.
- Develop evidence-based learning demonstrating the impact of PGI tools and approaches on the quality and effectiveness of programming, on protection risk management, as well as vulnerability prevention.
- Support the URCS leadership to strengthen PGI actions with internal and external partners.
Position Requirements
Education: An advanced university degree in Social/Behavioural Sciences (i.e. Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Communication or Education) or other relevant field such as Law, Child Protection, Gender or Women’s Studies or Social Work (preferred)
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in a related role to any and preferably a few of the following areas of work (Protection-preventing and addressing various forms of sexual and gender-based violence including child protection, preventing sexual exploitation and abuse, Gender – promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, Inclusion – work with older people, disability rights, other forms of social inclusion).
- Fluent spoken and written Ukrainian and good command of English.
