Movement building Leadership
Oversee, coordinate and amplify JASS Mesoamerica strategy and programmes:
  • Facilitate and feed consultative processes for planning, designing, implementing, and assessing JASS Mesoamerica’s feminist movement building work in line with JASS’ overall mission and priorities.
  • Ensure the implementation of regional level and country level movement building programs in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras; including maintaining relationships and facilitating regular coordination with local allies and partners around shared objectives.
  • Build, strengthen and maintain JASS presence in the region (and globally) by expanding its profile/visibility as a contributor and collaborator on feminist movement building, power, popular education, conflict and collective safety. To do so, activate staff, advisors and consultants in expanding regional knowledge production and developing a strategy to promote JASS (global and regional) knowledge products.

Lead and Manage Regional Staff:
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the Mesoamerica team, oversight to the programme (regional and country) and finance and operations teams and directly supervise the Regional Programme and Finance and Operations Coordinators.
  • Assess capacities of existing staff and workplan (including supporting regular employee performance assessments) to identify support/additional (staff/consultant) capacity needs in line with organisational and programme commitments, and budget availability/future funding. 
  • Maintain regular weekly team meetings with regional staff to ensure ownership, engagement and evolution of mutual accountability for clear deliverables; and host face-to-face (when possible) meetings (twice annually) that include the regional team and advisors.
  • Oversee the organisational development and health of JASS Mesoamerica:
  • Oversee regional budgeting and financial management in line with guidelines and procedures; maximise the use of resources by sharing/collaborating with like-minded organisations (e.g. for office space/equipment).• Strengthen the relationships with current donors and the management of current grants including ensuring regular outreach to share highlights and lessons from work, quality and on time reporting, accurate and regular tracking of grant spending and activity implementation
Inform, shape and advance global priorities:
  • Serve as a member of JASS’ joint leadership team (JLT) responsible for guiding overall strategic direction and organizational health; participate in ad hoc working groups to contribute to organizational strengthening priorities/organization-wide processes.
  • Engage in global working groups and processes to feed strategic thinking to ensure strategic coherence, calibration with regional demands and shape future strategy and evolution of JASS.
  • Represent JASS in global advocacy and a range of international spaces and events.
  • Keep the Executive Director (and other relevant staff) up to date on developments within the region and consult for globally aligned responses.
