About us
Young Women’s Trust champions young women aged 18 to 30 on low or no pay. We’re here to create a more equal world of work and raise young women’s incomes. We offer young women free coaching, feedback on job applications and information to help them get where they want to be. We bring together a network of thousands of young women to support each other, build their self-belief, and have their voices heard. We work with young women to campaign for equality in the workplace. And our research provides insight into what young women’s lives are really like, fuelling our campaigns for change.
About the role
Young Women’s Trust believes young women are a powerful force for change. It’s one of our core principles that young women are involved in shaping both our strategy and day to day work and given a platform, so their voices are heard by policymakers and employers. The Voice and Involvement Officer has an active role in championing young women’s involvement through collaborating with colleagues across the charity to identify, develop and execute a range of opportunities and programmes.
As our Voice and Involvement Officer you will:
• Promote the use of our ‘Voice and Involvement Guidelines’ to equip YWT staff to work confidently and effectively alongside young women.
• Be detail oriented and systematic, with strong skills in administration and managing processes.
• Be an effective communicator who is confident in supporting a diverse range of young women and understands how to create an inclusive environment.
• Part of the role will involve working alongside the services team to plan and deliver activities such as workshops and webinars. You’ll be capable of, and confident in, facilitating these types of activities as well as providing administrative support pre and post events.
Key deliverables
• Work proactively with colleagues – using the voice and involvement guidelines – to identify, develop and execute a range of activities so that young women inform and shape our campaigning, research, fundraising, communications and service delivery.
• Collaborate with staff to coordinate and support opportunities for young women to campaign with us and share their views and experiences externally, for example meeting with decision makers, employers, funders, speaking in the media and on digital platforms.
• Work alongside the services team to plan and deliver services for young women and lead on supporting any young women who deliver our services.
Person Specification
• Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds and supporting their involvement in decision-making processes.
• Experience of creating and/or delivering interactive workshops to engage participants with varying learning styles and needs, both on and offline. This could be people who are neurodivergent; have caring responsibilities; living with mental health conditions etc.
• Ability to deliver training to upskill people.
• Awareness of maintaining healthy boundaries.
