Background:

The International Planned Parenthood Federation – Arab World Regional Office (IPPF AWRO) is supporting the organization of the first regional workshop for the Alliance for Diversity and Inclusion (ADI), taking place in Tunis. This strategic gathering will bring together key LGBTQI+ and SRHR activists from across the MENA region to foster cross-border collaboration, strengthen advocacy skills, and launch collective strategies to confront growing regional challenges.

Scope of Work:

Consultant for Day 1: Advocacy & Movement-Building

Date: June 10, 2025
Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate sessions on regional LGBTIQ+ and SRHR movement contexts
  • Moderate a panel discussion on current regional threats and opportunities
  • Lead interactive sessions on strategic communications and engaging non-traditional allies (e.g., feminist movements, labor unions)
  • Present models for institutional collaboration, including engagement with IPPF
  • Participate in all sessions throughout the day and support participant engagement
Consultant for Day 2: International Advocacy & Strategic Planning

Date: June 11, 2025
Responsibilities:

  • Lead an in-depth training on international human rights mechanisms (e.g., UPR, Treaty Bodies)
  • Facilitate discussion on shrinking civic space and democratic values in hostile environments
  • Guide working groups to develop actionable strategic plans for national, regional, and international advocacy
  • Support cross-movement dialogue to build coalitions and align goals across sectors
  • Participate in all sessions throughout the day and support participant engagement
Deliverables (per consultant):

  1. Participate in a pre-event coordination call with IPPF AWRO
  2. Prepare all required materials and session tools in advance
  3. Facilitate all assigned sessions in alignment with the agenda
  4. Submit a written summary report within 5 working days after the workshop (minimum 2 pages, maximum 5 pages)
Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in LGBTQI+, SRHR, or human rights advocacy in the MENA region
  • Strong facilitation skills, especially in participatory and cross-cultural settings
  • Solid understanding of international advocacy tools and regional movement dynamics
  • Fluency in Arabic (English and/or French is an asset)
