BehanBox, a mission-driven, women-led newsroom that focuses on gender journalism in India, is looking for a campaign manager to lead upcoming editorial projects. 

Our journalism records the lives, histories, desires of people invisibilised by the complex systems of our times. We are expanding the nature of this mission – moving ahead from creating and reporting impactful stories to building our community and allies, together with whom, we endeavour to drive change for a gender equal India.

We are looking for our next community and campaigns manager. You will carry our mission forward from our newsroom to the wider world – our readers, supporters, co-travellers and everyone who sees this mission as their own. Role: Community and Campaigns Manager
Start Date: Immediately

Salary: Upto 7.2 Lakhs Per Annum depending on experience

About the role

  • Build our online community: Understand our audience across platforms and actively engage with them through different channels and news products (reported features, newsletters, reels, live discussions, and more). You’ll be responsible for monitoring and growing our readership over the website, social media, and other platforms, and reviewing results to iterate and improve our outreach strategies.

  • Build external outreach: Build our strategy and partnerships for external outreach in the offline world including advocacy groups, government and legislators to help make our work create impact in the right channels.

  • Innovate with editorial distribution: Strategise, plan, and execute the company’s campaigns around editorial offerings, such as events, stories, workshops, and other miscellaneous projects.

  • Work with our extensive archive of stories: Find new ways to make our stories relevant and accessible. Also work with new and old stories to deliver fresh insights and compelling narratives for different platforms.

  • Represent BehanBox to the world: Cultivate a strong network of relationships with existing and potential partners who share the company’s purpose and mission. Oversee all efforts to drive external visibility, including award submissions, and assessing inbound requests.
What we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate is someone with:


  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in a newsroom, social development sector, advertising or any other media content creation and marketing role

  • Experience in writing compelling copies, ideating and working on campaigns

  • Experience taking charge and driving projects, and an understanding of project management and coordinating between various stakeholders

  • Experience with managing and planning stories for social media channels and platforms like Substack

  • Interest in networking and interacting with people, both online and offline

  • Drive and inclination to ideate, innovate, and come up with solutions

  • Commitment to our vision and mission of driving gender equality
