About us:
ActionAid is a global federation working for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe was established in Kyiv in 2022 and is covering projects in Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Georgia. ActionAid works through a wide range of local partner organisations in the nexus, prioritising young people’s leadership, civil society development, women’s rights and leadership, the protection of minorities, as well as humanitarian support.
Tasks and Priorities:
1) Implementation of CSO Focused Projects
- Project Management: overseeing the CSO development component within all programmes, projects, and strategy, to ensure that activities are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement M&E frameworks, in coordination with the MEAL-reference positions within the team, to track project progress, assess impact, and identify areas for improvement.
2) Shape the direction of and grow the Civil Society Development portfolio
- Strategy: Contribute to the development of geographic and programmatic priorities, strategies and approaches.
- Networking: Develop ActionAid’s network of stakeholders in the civil society development sphere, from grassroots to international level.
- Identify and assess funding opportunities: Research and identify potential funding sources to expand the CSO development portfolio.
3) Capacity Building of Partners and Staff
- Training and Development: Design and deliver capacity-building programmes for CSOs and staff, including workshops, training sessions, and seminars.
- Technical Assistance: Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to partners and staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
4) Knowledge Management and Learning
- Knowledge Sharing: Develop and implement strategies for effective knowledge sharing within the programme and among CSO partners.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and project outcomes.
Who we're looking for:
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as development studies, public policy, international relations, political science, law, economics, or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in civil society development, capacity building, and programme management, preferably within the context of governance and recovery.
- A strong understanding of civil society dynamics in Eastern Europe and the Post-Soviet Space. On the ground experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects and a solid understanding of MEAL processes.
- Experience in proposal development with institutional donors and a track record of securing competitive funding from major donors/funders.
- Significant experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders including young people, minorities, but also senior decision makers and donors.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills: tact, patience, diplomacy, and appropriate assertiveness when communicating with external stakeholders.
- A results-oriented self-starter with a ‘hands on’ attitude who can work independently, find solutions, and shape the civil society development programme in Ukraine.
- Consultative and empowering working style and willingness to learn from others.
- Candidates who have completed a HEAT training in the past 24 months will be preferred.
