 The mission of the Harvard College Women’s Center is to promote gender equity by raising awareness of women’s and gender issues, developing women’s leadership, and celebrating women who challenge, motivate, and inspire. In alignment with these goals, we centralize resources and offer student-focused programming to strengthen individuals and student organizations. The Women’s Center is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students that encourages dialogue and promotes an intersectional approach to equity work. The Women's Center is a division of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Unit within the Dean of Students Office in Harvard College. 

Intern Supervision
  • Oversee hiring, training, and ongoing performance evaluation of interns
  • Work with the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Assistant Director for Finance and Administration to create and maintain personnel files, solidify schedules and approve intern payroll
  • Provide guidance and assist in coordination for all student-led center programming affiliate with the Women’s Center

Student Advising
  • Advise student organization leaders affiliated with the Women’s Cabinet
  • Serve as advisor for student leaders of the Women of Color Collective as the Women’s Center’s Department-Sponsored Student Organization (DSSO)
  • Provide programmatic advisement to graduate student program coordinators

Program Management
  • Design, develop, implement, and assess signature campus and university-wide programming
  • Work independently and closely with students on the creation and implementation of Women’s Center campus wide events (Women’s Week)
  • Develop and implement semester based “Smart Cookies” Women in STEM programming

Communications Strategy and Development
  • Oversee and manage branding including online communications and marketing, website, e-mail, weekly newsletter, and various social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
  • Design, produce, and publish annual reports and update brochures and other publications

Financial Oversight
  • Monitor and administer annual operating budget of $20K for student organization grants and facilitate the Ann Radcliffe Trust grant process (2-3 rounds per year)
  • Monitor annual events and programming budget of $42K 

Other Responsibilities
  • Represent the Women’s Center at relevant campus and community events as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the Harvard College Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team
  • Handle additional items as determined by Women’s Center Director

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred (e.g., higher education administration, student affairs)
  • At least one year's experience advising and/or managing college-age students
  • Experience with student activities managing programming/events and assessment
  • Passion and understanding of diversity with focus on women’s and gender issues
  • Ability to forge collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies including students, staff, and faculty
  • Enhanced intercultural competence, strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Available to work occasional nights and weekends, especially during orientation
