Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' role LGBTQI+ rights/ SOGIESCThis is a 12-month mandate in San Salvador, El SalvadorThe mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028).The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.Here's what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with Oxfam's in El Salvador team members and partner organizations, your mandate will be to:- Identify and systematize challenges and best practices in safe programming in collaboration with partner organizations, providing key inputs to strengthen their safeguarding policies;
- Design and implement a comprehensive awareness-raising and training plan on feminist and safeguarding principles, promoting their understanding and practical application;
- Support partner organizations in designing and facilitating training spaces for men and community leaders, fostering equitable and non-violent masculinities through context-specific pedagogical tools;
- Support organizational strengthening processes in the areas of gender, diversity, safe programming, and ethical case management.
For this mandate you must:- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
- Have university degree in gender studies, sociology, international development or any other relevant field;
- Have at least 3 years of experience related to the mandate;
- Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);
- Master the Office suite.
What we offer:- Monthly allowance for living expenses;
- 20% increase in the allowance per accompanying child (maximum of 2 children)
- 1,500$ CAD per year/per child for school fees
- Monthly housing allowance;
- Round trip flight with 2 checked luggage;
- Round trip flight for accompanying child(ren).
- 200$ CAD for additional luggage;
- Advantageous medical insurance for you and the accompanying child(ren);
- A volunteer support program during your mandate and up to two months after the end of your mandate;

Climate & Environmental justice Economic justice Food security & NutritionSince its establishment in 2008, African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) has continued its career-development program for emerging African women scientists through leading capacitystrengthening initiative shaping gender responsive agricultural research and development (AR4D) across the continent. Guided by three interdependent pillars, investing in individuals, strengthening institutions, and influencing an enabling environment, AWARD delivers comprehensive programs that advance women’s leadership, deepen gender responsiveness in AR4D institutions, and catalyze systemic change across the agrifood ecosystem.Expected Key Training Tasks and ResponsibilitiesThe training consultants will play a critical role in delivery of high-quality capacity strengthening training programs across Africa. During this period consultants will be engaged periodically based on programmatic demand and expertise required. As part of AWARD’s distinguished network of international trainers, the consultants will join a dynamic community of AR4D professionals committed to fostering gender responsive agricultural innovation in Africa. In addition to assignment-based engagements, the experts will benefit from access to AWARD’s knowledge resources, collaborative platforms, and professional networking opportunities, strengthening their connection to a continent-wide ecosystem of practice. The experts will be engaged in training activities including:
- Design and carry out training needs assessments
- Design course programs and objectives based on assessment analyses
- Develop interactive, engaging, and impactful course content and methodology
- Prepare, deliver, and co-facilitate the trainings in line with the schedule and objectives set
- Actively participate in debrief sessions with other trainers
- Plan, prepare and/or facilitate training related meetings
- Design and conduct course evaluations
- Prepare and submit comprehensive training reports
Consultant Qualification and Knowledge requirements
1. Advanced university degree in education, adult learning, agricultural sciences, social sciences, natural sciences and other relevant disciplines.
2. Subject matter expertise in one or more of these areas (gender in agriculture, policy, climate science, innovation and technology, research proposal writing, scientific writing and publishing, research methods, women’s leadership, organisational development, mentoring and coaching)
3. A minimum of ten years’ working experience in designing and delivering capacity development programs regionally and/or internationally
4. Knowledge of adult learning principles in capacity development programs and experience in the development and design of curricula and course materials
5. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
6. Relevant experience and knowledge of the African Agriculture Research for Development landscape
7. Experience working with diverse teams including different nationalities, gender, cultures, age groups and across sectors.
8. Familiarity and knowledge in the use of ICT tools in course delivery (demonstrated ability to create professional power points, organize webinars, work with different online tools/applications, experience with Open-Source Learning Systems such as Massive Open Online Course MOOCs, ability to manage tutorial chat rooms, etc.)
9. Demonstrated experience facilitating mixed-ability groups respectfully and effectively.
